Written by Colleen on June 09, 2009

Golden Globe-winning actress Kyra Sedgwick — who is less than one degree separated from Kevin Bacon — received the 2,384th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday.

Sedgwick’s police drama “The Closer” begins its fifth season on TNT this evening (Monday 8th).

Sedgwick, whose star is located next to husband Kevin Bacon’s star, has received four Golden Globe nominations, winning once, three Emmy nominations and a People’s Choice Award for her portrayal of Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson on “The Closer.”

Sedgwick also received Golden Globe nominations for the 1995 film “Something to Talk About” and the 1992 made-for-television movie “Miss Rose White.”

Sedgwick was born in New York City on Aug. 19, 1965, and is adescendant of William Ellery, who signed the Declaration of Independence.

She made her professional debut as a 16-year-old in 1982 on the now defunct NBC daytime drama “Another World.” She played Julia from 1982-83.

Her movie credits include “Phenomenon,” “The Game Plan” “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Secondhand Lions,” “Mr. and Mrs. Bridge,” “Singles,” “Lemon Sky,” “Hearts & Souls,” “Montana,” “Just a Kiss” and “Behind the Red Door.”

Her next film, the futuristic thriller “Gamer,” is set to be released this fall.

She married Bacon in 1988. The couple have two children.

Kyra Sedgwick has received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

The Golden-Globe winning actress celebrated her honour alongside her actor husband Kevin Bacon.

Kyra said: “I knew I wanted to be an actor when I was 12-years-old when I played Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof.

“I am so honoured to be among the actors chosen to be celebrated on Hollywood Boulevard.

“And while it feels like an accomplishment, I am keenly aware that memorable performances are never made alone.”

Sedgwick, 43, earned a Golden Globe in 2007 for her portrayal of Los Angeles Police Department deputy police chief Brenda Johnson on The Closer.
